With some difficulty I finally got my Surface Pro to connect to the internet through my iMac over Bluetooth PAN (personal area network). This may also apply to non-Mac computers, since Bluetooth is relatively universal, and on the Surface I had to go though a lot of different settings to just enable it. This is not for the faint of heart or the impatient. It's a pain in the ass to get working correctly, but it's a better option than nothing if you can't, or don't want to use a WiFi hotspot (or want to be stealth- see comments). Bluetooth and Network Adapters Ever since Build 10041 of Windows 10, I've had trouble getting onto the Internet and staying there... It was a virtual impossibility! Yesterday, after advice and help from many here, I went into Device Manager for the umpteenth time to see if I could update my network drivers. Apple Bluetooth DriversThe trickiest part was actually getting the two to even see each other. Just tapping 'Add Device' on the Surface, and/or searching for Bluetooth devices on the iMac did not work. First, make them discoverable. • On the Mac, go to the settings -> Bluetooth and turn on Discoverable. Mac os download. • On the Surface, go to the desktop and right-click on the Bluetooth icon in the system tray -> settings -> 'Allow Bluetooth device to find this computer'. (Make sure to turn them back off when you are done, or else anyone can connect.) On the Mac: • Go back to the main settings screen, sharing -> Internet Sharing, and turn on Bluetooth PAN (internet sharing must be unchecked to make any changes), then enable it. • Now go to Network -> Bluetooth PAN -> Set up Bluetooth Device.
